Extend My Runway is a Singapore-based B2B2C Start-up Leveraging AI to Personalize Behavioural Change and Better Performance

A leading Asian start-up in corporate neuroscience, Extend My Runway nudges new behaviours to rewire your brain and better performance. Our AI virtual coach leverages Nobel-Prize-winning behavioural research and cutting-edge neuroscience from tier-1 research institutions such as Harvard, University of Texas, Stanford, Chicago and MIT.

It’s a faster, better way to adopt new ways of working and transform company culture.

Here’s a little secret…

Executive development professionals and talent consultants will often—but only privately—admit their desire for greater impact on the customer. Extend My Runway (EMR) was born out of this same desire when in 2017 our founder, Michael Netzley Ph.D., recognised that revolutionary discoveries in neuroscience provide exactly such as solution.

The research is 100% spot on for executive development and optimising the higher-order thinking that businesses so desperately need.

So what does the research say?

Any healthy individual can leverage the power of neuroplasticity to adopt new behaviours, train their brain, and build a smarter, higher-performing brain. These insights offer a revolutionary new perspective on developing talents. Through science we can help you:

  • Think more innovatively

  • Manage complexity at a next-level standard

  • strategise and see the big picture,

  • Improve your focus and push aside distractions,

  • transform yourself, products, services and the customer experience

  • build collaborative relationships that are valued, and

  • learn in a manner appropriate for you (and much more).

Improved brain health is the path to higher performance in a knowledge economy.

Why Do We Need This Solution?

Today’s world and typical lifestyle can undermine our cogntive performance in critical ways.

  • sleep too little,

  • suffer from chronic stress,

  • eat ultra-processed foods with poor nutritional value,

  • multitask most of the day or doom scroll TikTok late into the night,

  • connect and network with too few people, and

  • exercise too little (to name just a few).

  • Fai to seek out novel and new experiences that are meaningful

  • Rationalise that we are de-compressing and relaxing when we drink alcohol at night

This is a recipe for under-performance and people struggle to keep pace with the constant change around us.

The rate of change today is not just fast. It is accelerating. The complexity of modern life is outstripping our ability to deal with it.

EMR’s Milestones:

  • 2017: EMR was envisioned by Dr. Netzley and initial ideas were published in an annual journal published by a global consulting firm.

  • 2018: Tomas Klvana, Ph.D. joined EMR as its cofounder and then EMR was invited into and completed the  Modern Ageing – ACCESS Health Start-up Accelerator in Singapore.

  • 2018 - 2021: EMR generated its first revenue by delivering neuroscience-based workshops and webinars for clients such as  BNP Paribas, DSM, Twitter, KPMG, Julius Baer, Frasers Property and IMD Business School’s Orchestrating Winning Performance.

  • 2019: EMR welcomed Norman Munro into a business development role and Akanksha Rath into government grants and programme delivery.

  • 2019: EMR formed its research advisory board which included a distinguished professor of neuroscience, corporate scientists, business executives, consultants, and financial services professionals.

  • 2020: EMR successfully launched its first digital nudging programme and used the data to learn about the relationship between nudge consumption patterns and audience impact. This work led to EMR’s co-innovation agreement with Infineon Technologies (below)

  • 2021: EMR used the COVID lockdown to join Infineon Technologies’ Co-Innovation Space where together we have conducted over 230 hours of end-user interviews, run ten analogue tests of behaviour change, and then co-designed EMR’s data-driven platform. This agreement gave EMR access to Infineon’s AI engineers and 1500 employees.

  • 2022: EMR signed a joint research agreement with the Center for BrainHealth at the University of Texas – Dallas.

  • 2022: EMR welcomed Mario Domingo of DARC Labs (Manila) as its CTO and as an angel investor. Mario has guided the build of our COReTEX Ai engine. Jaan Turon, Director of Venom Computers, joined EMR as our Chief Strategy and Commercial Officer.

  • 2023: EMR launched Singapore’s first BrainHealth benchmarking study in partnership with The Center for BrainHealth. This is a control group study testing different dosages of brain health assessment and behavioural advice.

  • 2023: delivering its full AI MVP to Infineon Technologies which was built at DARC Labs (Manila).

So what’s the path ahead? EMR is speaking with the next round of investors who will see our MVP grow from version 2 to version 3 and help us correlate gains in brain health and cognitive performance to verifiable business results.

Our Values

●    We Believe Business Can be a Force for Good. We serve people and society by tackling today’s big challenges. Ageing populations, human-centred behavioural change, reducing AI bias, and augmenting employee performance (rather than using technology to replace people) are a few examples.

●    We Believe in Science and the Scientific Method. We are committed to using the best-available science, rejecting solutions based on cherry-picked evidence, and testing thoroughly the solutions we put into the market. We use science to increase confidence and trust.

●     We believe in Ethical AI that Helps People. We are building a technology platform that augments performance at work or at home (rather than technology that replaces people). We are deeply committed to eliminating biases in our algorithms.

●     We Believe that Talent can be Timeless. Anyone, regardless of age, can contribute and offer something of value. Therefore, we measure, verify, and use data to demonstrate the strengths that each person has to offer.

●     We Believe in Reducing Friction. Desired outcomes become attainable when we focus on making something easier. At Extend My Runway, examples will include our commitments to low-friction commercial contracting, gracefully designed user experiences, and changing behaviours first (mindsets will follow). We help people and organisations reach their goals in a faster and better way.
